LiveJournal is being shitty at the moment, so I thought I would take the opportunity to update this thing. (Which I know I have been really bad about doing.)

Some good news to report! I am going to Stanford this summer as a visiting student. I am really, really excited about it and looking forward to it. It's going to be expensive as hell, but it'll totally be worth it. Who says no to Stanford?

I've been doing well in school. The winter intersession sucked and I ended up dropping the math class I was taking. I really didn't need my GPA to go any further down the toilet. That was not one of my bright ideas, let me tell you. Six weeks of time where they try to cram in 16 weeks of information and then taking an English class and a math class? BAD IDEA. So yeah, I dropped it. Which meant I had to drop the math class I had registered for for the spring semester. I was able to get into another class at the last minute though, thankfully. I got an A in my English 1A class, so that's good. It brought my GPA up (which wasn't bad, but gave me a frown), too, of course.

This semester I am taking English 1B and Introduction to Shakespeare (the class that replaced the math class). The Intro to Shakespeare class is eh. It could be worse, but I wish I could have gotten into a history class instead.

I like how LiveJournal will email you about all the pointless bullshit in the world, but they don't say shit when they are going to do maintenance. Or maybe I just missed it. I have been doing nothing but going to school and homework since this intermission started. Remind me never to take two classes during the winter or summer intermission ever again.

Things are going well. Finals are almost here and this semester is almost over. I can't believe it! I am registered for both winter and spring semesters (my school is weird) now. Winter semester will suck and be long, but spring will be much, much better.

Anyway, I went to Las Vegas to visit my Grandma for Thanksgiving. I had a good time with her for the most part. We had a few disagreements and she tried some of her guilt tripping bullshit on me, but it didn't work out. (In fact, it just pissed me off more.)

Just studying and living.

I'm doing all right in school. Getting good grades and all that jazz. Well, in most of my classes, anyway. Whatever. I am getting through midterms, though, and that's what counts.

Now would be a good time to mention that I got a new computer. This time I went with Mac. I got a 13 inch MacBook and it suits me just fine. I am making my way around it and adjusting to it just dandy. I like it much better than my old PC.

Long story short, the dudes at Best Buy were being jerkwads about the whole deal so I bought a new computer and told them not to fix the one I sent in. I would never have been able to get my school work done if I had sat around waiting for them to get their shit together long enough to actually fix my computer. It took them a week to do the data back-up and then two weeks to just send back to me after I decided to not get it fixed. Such bullshit.

Anyhow.

In other good news, I will be going to Guatemala with my dad for Christmas. They'll be flying out of Chicago and I'll be flying out of LAX on Christmas Eve. I have two brothers living in Guatemala City at the moment, so it will be good to see them again. One I haven't seen in close to five years now. It's crazy.

So, my computer is busted and needs some work on the screen. I am beginning to wonder if I should have just gotten a new computer. Oh well, the work is getting done now. I have missed a lot of stuff online, unfortunately. That's why I haven't been around anywhere (people on LJ would notice this more than anywhere else).

Anyhow, it sounds like it's going to be a while before I get my computer back. I need it as soon as possible, unfortunately, but I don't have the $150 to put it towards the front of the computer to be fixed line. *sigh*

I'll be making an entry similar to this in my LJ later on. I have to get ready to go to my eyebrow waxing appointment and then to go pick up a check for a friend (the same awesome friend who lent me their computer while they were at work).

If you need to tell me anything, post it either here or at my LJ or message me at either place.

So the Station Fire is now at 157,220 acres, but is 56% contained. It has also been ruled an arson. Lets all hope that they get this thing completely contained soon without any further injuries, deaths, and loss to property and communication centers.

It has been a pretty uneventful weekend thus far. School starts again tomorrow, but it will be a short day because I only have one class. After school I am going to go recycle my cans and bottles for $$ and then go to the animal shelter in Pasadena to donate some cat food and see if they need any volunteers. Volunteering would look good for my future college plans.

I started school this past Monday. I will be in school Monday through Thursday until the end of the fall semester. So far it's been going good. I think it will be a bit tough on me at first, since it has been eight years since I last focused on JUST school. I took a class on the History of the Vietnam War a few years ago, but it was an online class, so I feel like that's a bit different. Although, the reading assignments for that class were pretty demanding, I am sure it's only going to pick up for these classes.

Anyhow.

I live pretty close to the Station Fire (more information can be gleaned here, as well). I could see the flames of the fire from the area I live. The air quality has been rated as unhealthy due to, of course, the fire.

I am ok, though, and no evacuation has been ordered for the area I live in. They are doing the best they can to contain this fire and I hope no more lives are lost and that no one else is injured fighting this wildfire (and any other wildfire, for that matter, as there are more).

Damn, it's been a while since I last updated this thing. I have been pretty busy enjoying LA and getting things straight for school. Family has come and visited me, I have a friend coming to visit me soon, I went to Vegas to visit my Grandma, etc. Just enjoying life.

I haven't been on this for a minute. I have either been stuck in wretched LA traffic or I have been surfing. Fun times have been had, though. Just bought a new board, put on the base coat and then waxed it and I am contemplating taking it out this weekend. We'll see.

Totally busted my ass at the Chateau Marmont. I laughed my ass off on the way down. It was the kind of fall where both my legs flew into the air and if I were wearing a skirt, Sunset Blvd. would have gotten quite a show. OMFG Too funny! Going to watch some Sex and the City and then go to sleep. I have my surf lesson tomorrow.
